Smoke Chamber Parging and Repair in Fort Worth, TX
The smoke chamber is the inverted funnel-shaped transition area between your fireplace firebox and the chimney flue. When constructed with corbelled (stepped) brick, it creates turbulent airflow and traps hazardous creosote. Embercrest Chimney Sweep Tanglewood specializes in parging smoke chambers smooth with insulating refractory mortar.

Why Smoke Chamber Parging Is Essential
- Enhanced Fire Safety: Refractory mortar insulates nearby combustible framing against intense heat.
- Code Compliance: Modern building codes (NFPA 211) require smooth parged smoke chamber walls.
- Improved Draft: Eliminates eddies and turbulence, pulling smoke quickly up the flue instead of back into your room.
- Reduced Creosote Buildup: A smooth surface prevents soot and creosote from clinging to jagged mortar shelves.
